Upgrading to InRoads V8i

This training manual focuses on changes to the highway and road design functions contained in the V8i version of InRoads (for those coming from 8.7, 8.8 or 8.9 XM). You’ll learn to use new tools and concepts that have been added to the software that will teach you how to:

• Easily maneuver the new task-based interface.
• Automatically place curves on your alignments using design criteria.
• Automatically update alignment annotation and stationing.
• Utilize new template and Roadway Designer enhancements to labeling, parametric constraints and value equations.
• Automatically update Roadway Designer changes to design graphics.
• Use Civil AccuDraw for placing graphics in lieu of standard AccuDraw.
• Use MicroStation tools to create InRoads geometry.
• Use Bentley Map (delivered with InRoads) to:

• Work with GIS features, feature attribute data and shapefiles.
• Create shapefiles from MicroStation graphics.
• Create buffers from proposed centerlines and construct spatial intersects on features like parcels, wetlands and existing utilities.
• Calculate ROW takes or quantity impacts on existing features.

• Use the new Site Modeler to create and size ponds, building pads, etc.

This workbook comes with a dataset that you will use to work through each of the topics at your own pace, using the clear step-by-step guide.
