Upgrading to MicroStation XM Training Course

Overview: This course focuses on the new functions contained in the MicroStation XM software. The format is lecture and example design problems. Students will learn tools and concepts that have been added to the software for improving productivity when applying MicroStation to design projects. See the table of contents below for a list of specific topics covered.
Length: 2 Days
Prerequisites: This course is intended for MicroStation users with previous experience. The course does not cover the basics of MicroStation. If the student does not have a working knowledge of MicroStation, they should attend the MicroStation for Civil XM course instead.
Details:

Discover the new features and tools available in the XM version of MicroStation (for those coming from V8 2004). In this course, you’ll learn how to:

  • Utilize the new Task Navigation toolbar and positional keyboard mapping to access MicroStation tools.
  • Create transparent elements and use element priorities to control the order of elements.
  • Link project data using the Project Explorer.
  • Create multiple named fences.
  • Utilize new Reference enhancements to manipulate references as elements and create transparent references.
  • Enhance your productivity by creating custom tasks and tools.
  • Use Element Templates to automate custom settings.
  • Visualized your MicroStation models in their appropriate site locations using Google Earth.

All students receive the Upgrading to MicroStation XM manual and dataset that is used to work through the topics with a knowledgeable instructor available to explain key concepts and assist with questions.
