Overview: This course focuses on the new functions contained in the MicroStation V8i software. The format is lecture and example design problems. Students will learn tools and concepts that have been added to the software for improving productivity when applying MicroStation to design projects. See the table of contents below for a list of specific topics covered.
Length: 2 Days
Prerequisites: This course is intended for MicroStation users with previous experience. The course does not cover the basics of MicroStation. If the student does not have a working knowledge of MicroStation, they should attend the MicroStation for Civil V8i course instead.
Details:

This course focuses on the new features and tools available in the V8i version of MicroStation. You’ll learn how to get the most out of the latest productivity enhancement including how to:

  • Easily maneuver the new task-based interface.
  • Link project data using the Project Explorer.
  • Use Dynamic Views to automate the creation of cross section and elevations of 3D models.
  • Geo-referencing raster and vector graphics and re-project this data for proper alignment of differing coordinate systems.
  • Work with GIS Shapefiles directly in MicroStation including how to access and manipulate GIS feature attribute data.
  • Access raster data from numerous sources via MicroStation’s new Web Map Server (WMS).
  • Batch-print a set of sheets quickly and easily with the new Print Organizer.
  • Unlock the power of MicroStation’s new Luxology rendering engine.
  • Enhance your productivity by creating custom workflows, tasks and tools.

All students receive the Upgrading to MicroStation V8i manual and dataset that is used to work through the topics with a knowledgeable instructor available to explain key concepts and assist with questions.
