Overview: This entry level InRoads training course is designed for civil engineers and designers who will use InRoads for design and evaluation of highway or other corridor projects. Students complete an example road design project that illustrates both workflow and concepts of using the software tools for corridor development. See the table of contents below for a list of specific topics covered.
Length: 4 Days (Typical)
Prerequisites: Ability to use MicroStation with at least 80 hours of hands-on experience; Familiarity with MicroStation 3D basics; Familiarity with civil engineering design terms and concepts.
Details:

This entry level training course is designed for civil engineers and designers who will use InRoads for design and evaluation of highway or other corridor projects. It takes you through an example road design project that illustrates both workflow and concepts of using the software tools for corridor development including how to:

  • Create existing topography (DTM) models.
  • Define horizontal alignments.
  • Profile the existing model and create a proposed vertical alignment.
  • Create template components and end conditions.
  • Utilize the Roadway Designer interface to create a proposed corridor.
  • Set up Superelevation using the Superelevation Wizard.
  • Create cross sections showing existing and proposed surfaces and features.
  • Compute project volumes including end-areas.
  • Generate project reports.
  • Automate the creation of plan/profile sheets.

All students receive the Applying InRoads V8i manual and dataset that is used to work through the topics with a knowledgeable instructor available to explain key concepts and assist with questions.
